New Kids On The Block

Well, they've been here for a while now. Just busy with them and life.

First there's Bessie (Samhain's Flyin' High).

Here she is at I believe 19 weeks. She was my oldest daughter Chloë's 16th birthday present. Out of Kim and Mark's Dash x Ana, she's a really lovely bitch in many ways and has been such a wonderful addition to the family.

Then a few weeks later I got a boy from Paul Chen

This remarkable guy is named Sirius (no registered name as yet). His dam is Paul's fabulous Jolene and the sire is Rocky. This boy wows me every time we're out for a walk. Impeccable movement. Gorgeous front. The sweetest temperament to boot. I can hardly wait to get to take him out in the ring.

Twos-day

And an extra picture for missing yesterday. I call it "Puppy Pile Under the Pigrail." Gerta is getting buried.

Now for a shower and off to another job...

Sleepy Sermon Sunday

Cleanliness is next to dogliness? Gerta's unable to hold back her yawn.

Don't you love her belly spot? That's where the belly rubs go!!

Introducing the Lucky kids

Kismet. Although it's going to be interesting what his reaction will be to "Holy Shit!" since those were the first words I said when I saw him in the dog run.
13 oz. at birth, gained .5 as of today.

Karma. 10 oz. yesterday. 11 today. The fairies gave her a special black kiss on top of her head.

Bea. Short for Luck Be a Lady. 10.5 at birth. 11 today. Guess who thinks she's the princess?

Mojo Jojo. I think his first words would have been "Excuse me Momma, you need to push a little harder. Now please if you don't mind." Such a polite boy. 10 oz. then. 10.5 now.

Sara. Short for Serendipity. Dipity works too with the splash on the ears. The biggest girl at 11.5 oz yesterday and 12.5 oz. today.

Gerta. Bear with me on this one but you try to find enough luck names for so many girls. Gerta is pretty close to the phonetic pronunciation of Goethe, who said: "Only by joy and sorrow does a person know anything about themselves and their destiny. They learn what to do and what to avoid." So she's Gerta aka Knowing Destiny. I know. I know. Sorry Gerta.
Anyway, she was 11 oz. yesterday and is holding strong.

I couldn't be more pleased with this experience. If only all births went so well.

Wow!!!

Lucky is right!!
Celie's temp was never less than 100º (when there was a thermometer up her butt anyway ;-)).

So I get home from work. Sophia is sick and staying home. I take the other two to school. Come back and check on Sophia. She's feeling better so we decide to have breakfast. Thomas had taken Celie's temp earlier this morning and I know she's been out already and had her breakfast. But while I'm sipping coffee she barks at me to go out. So I let her outside along with her "sisters" Rogue and Pan.
I go back inside and get on the phone. Half an hour later and they're barking, barking, barking. "My dogs must see something." I go out to let them in. "Holy shit!!!" There's a little black boy squeaking in the middle of the dog run!! Best guess this one was born at about 10:15. No sooner get her in the whelping box and blue girl at 10:30, then 2nd blue girl at 10:45.
Then Celie decided to take her time... at 11:45 I checked her... "Oh shit!" Literally. Meconium coming out with baby deep inside. Off to the vet methinks and quick. But she was pushing within 10 minutes. Breech and sac broke but writhing like crazy and trying to catch his breath.
Then came 2 black girls.

I think she's done.

She's such a good momma. She is sleeping now but during labor she kept looking at me as if to say "OH!!! So that's what was in there!! Cool!! I love them!!"

Note, I had planned on going out to take care of some errands today. Thank you Sophia for being sick. And turning out to be the best little doula. She says, "I'm so glad I was sick today!!"

And thank you Celie for doing so well.

Celie and Rocky

In case you're new to my blog and NW Cardigans I'm writing this post about the recent breeding and hopes for some very nice puppies. It's a wonderful pedigree.

First here's a link to Rocky's page.
CH Coedwig's Malachite, PT

And my Celie, CH Coedwig's Sail On Silvergirl pictured here. Love her front and expression!

She has been a dream dog who got me totally addicted to this conformation showing sickness. She finished easily at 11 months with 3 majors.
One of those majors she also went on to receive Best of Breed as seen here.

Here she is winning her second Best of Breed when I specialed her last spring in Elma.

One of my favorite views of her.

I don't have enough time in my day to do it all with her. We did obedience training and will again. The instructor, Chris Primmer, went on and on about how biddable she was. "People would give you thousands of dollars for that dog!!," she said every class.

She's my sidekick though, my right guard, and yes as one of her grandmas calls her she's still a little gwrach (witch). And if all has gone well, she's full of lucky charms. That's right the due date is St. Patrick's Day.

Current names being tossed around for the little babes are Luck Be a Lady (call name Bea or Ellie) and Fortune Favors the Bold (call name Virgil or more likely Felix).

I am so grateful for Kim Shira's love and support, starting with the day she said, "I want you to have this girl." We're both very excited about this litter and I'll be sure to keep everyone posted as things progress.
