cute and sticky

Charlie says that was yummy.

Magnus makes sure there's nothing left behind.

Kayla noticed what a good job he did.

I took a lot more photos but my card decided to turn to crap. sigh.

More pictures later I promise. Of all of them and with new weigh ins.

Oh that face on Kayla made me laugh out loud. At least she gets to lick the puppies clean. :)

What are you feeding them?

Kim Shira recommended Gerber baby food meats (this was turkey), rice cereal and goat's milk. I gave them their first taste on Sunday. Kayla was eating constantly but everything was going to milk and the puppies were always on her. They needed something to fill them up and Kayla needed a break. I'll be doing this nightly I think as they get really sleepy for a longer time. Teephers are starting to appear under the gums so they'll be able to handle ground meat mixed in soon.

It was amazing how soon my raw litter was able to eat a mixture of ground turkey and goat milk. I generally start feeding at 3 weeks and they were able to eat it right off the bat.

They were pink and smelled like Thanksgiving :-)

My only concern with feeding raw is unless I grind it myself I have little control over the bacteria. I know Kim Shira was advised for puppies and older dogs (and I would add any dog with a compromised immune system) that raw was unsafe. I can't afford organic and local. I have to do cheap. I'll spare you the details unless you're really interested but it is not safely handled. I cook the meat thoroughly before I feed all my dogs.
